IT House reported on October 4 that according to Wccftech, Reddit user u/Sad-Victory-8319 used the third-party tool mVolt+ Extreme to set the GDDR7 memory frequency offset of a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti to +5500MHz, increasing the memory speed from the default 28 Gbps to 39 Gbps. The card is equipped with 16GB GDDR7 Samsung video memory and 256 bit width, which jumps the theoretical bandwidth from 896 GB/s to 1248 GB/s, an increase of about 39%, and more than 200 GB/s higher than the default bandwidth of the RTX 4090. However, in terms of actual gaming performance, the improvement is much smaller than the bandwidth figure. This user reports that in Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing turned on, each +1000MHz memory offset brings about a 1 FPS improvement, so +5500MHz corresponds to a frame rate gain of about 5 FPS. According to OC3D analysis, the RTX 5070 Ti itself is not a bandwidth bottleneck graphics card. Its default 896 GB/s bandwidth can fully supply the GPU core in most game scenarios, so the benefits from additional bandwidth are limited. However, this user reported about a 20% performance increase on the Steel Nomad synthetic benchmark. In fact, mainstream overclocking software including MSI Afterburner generally limits the offset for GDDR7 memory at around +3000MHz, and mVolt+ Extreme is specifically designed to bypass this limitation. Wccftech notes that the tool has previously demonstrated the ability to unlock the RTX 5090's TDP to 700W without any branching modifications. However, this tool is a third-party unofficial software, and overclocking itself will also bring hardware risks. In terms of overclocking stability, this user experienced a driver crash and caused the overclocking settings to automatically reset when trying a +6000MHz offset. Another user in the same post confirmed that his RTX 5070 Ti runs stably at +5500MHz, but is equally unstable at +6000MHz. There are obvious differences in the performance of different graphics cards: some users can reach more than +5000MHz, and some ASUS Prime RTX 5070 Ti users report that the upper limit is around +4500MHz. According to Igor's Lab analysis, 39 Gbps is not a universal stable operating value for RTX 5070 Ti, but a verified individual result.
