IT House, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- A memo seen by Reuters showed that the U.S. Department of Justice issued instructions to internal staff on Tuesday local time that “superintelligence” should be used instead of the term “artificial intelligence” when referring to the technology on most occasions, including in court-related documents. Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter issued the directive. A week earlier, President Donald Trump had signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to complete the terminology replacement, which Mr. Trump said more closely reflected the potential of the rapidly advancing technology. This memorandum states that among the external communications, policy documents and other official records of the Ministry of Justice employees, AI should be replaced by "superintelligence" and its abbreviation "SI" "to the maximum extent permitted by law". The memorandum also states that, where appropriate, this requirement applies equally to documents submitted to the Court. After a series of hacking incidents, the public's perception of this smart technology has deteriorated, and related events have raised many questions about its security risks. IT House noted that Trump has not been inclined to introduce new regulations on the technology, but he has also said the Justice Department would bind the technology if necessary.
