IT House, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- President Trump will award national medals to top tech executives including Elon Musk and Michael Dell at Thursday's Science Summit, CNBC reported today. CNBC quoted the White House as saying that SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Huang Jenxun, AMD CEO Su Zifeng will be awarded the National Medal of Science. In addition, Dell founder Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will be awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Huston said in an emailed statement: “The U.S. government is grateful for the contributions of these outstanding leaders in science and technology. These winners are helping to ensure that the United States continues to lead the way in global innovation. The summit comes just over a week after Trump hosted an AI-focused White House luncheon that included executives and industry insiders. Trump told reporters after the lunch that he signed an“ ethically binding ”document with tech leaders when calls to slow down AI model development reached a climax. Musk was the biggest financial backer of Trump's 2024 election cycle, donating more than $290 million (IT House note: the current exchange rate is about 1.947 billion yuan), and then as a special government employee of the Trump administration, led the reduction of the federal labor force. Sergey Brin attended Trump's inauguration and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Republican National Committee in 2025. Huang Jenxun donated to the fund that built Trump's White House Ballroom, and Nvidia donated $1 million for Trump's inauguration (the current exchange rate is about 6.712 million yuan). Michael Dell is a longtime Trump donor. Together with his wife, Susan, he pledged $6.25 billion (the current exchange rate is about 41.953 billion yuan) to set up a Trump account aimed at opening up savings for American children. AMD is also contributing to the Trump Fund. According to recent disclosures, Trump bought and sold shares of SpaceX, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft, AMD and Google parent company Alphabet in July.
