According to Nikkei Asia, Synopsys, a leader in chip design software, said that although the US government has tightened export controls on artificial intelligence and semiconductors, the company plans to help local Chinese companies accelerate the chip research and development process by working with China's Large Language Model (LLM) builders and using the AI version of its tools. On September 30, local time, Synopsys announced the signing of a multi-year cooperation agreement with OpenAI. The two parties will work together to create a dedicated AI model GPT-Synopsys, which aims to automate the chip design process and significantly shorten the development cycle. Ravi Subramanian, chief product manager at Synopsys, revealed in an interview that the company is exploring a partnership with AI labs in China to tailor similar design tools for the Chinese market. In recent years, Synopsys has come under considerable pressure. It is widely believed that emerging AI technologies have the potential to disrupt and replace the EDA software that underlies them.
