IT House, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The California Sports Commission sent a letter to REK, the tech startup that hosted last month's human-robot fight, asking it to stop unapproved events, according to The New York Times, Oct. 8. On Sept. 18, Frankie Lapena was in a showdown with a humanoid robot from REK. The robot is allegedly controlled by a real person via a remote virtual reality system. According to IT House, REK called itself the "Humanoid Robot Fighting Alliance" on the official website, and the participating robots or products for the crowd engine robot were replaced with a head that closely resembles the robot in "Terminator". On September 30, REK CEO Hicks Leaf posted the notification letter on X platform. The California Sports Commission determined that prior competitions were unapproved and requested that Liv and REK not host, promote, or publicize any human-involved boxing, mixed martial arts, or exhibition matches in California without the approval of the Commission. Liv responded: “We did it, guys! REK's next game is scheduled for 9 local time, when the two armed robots will face off.
