Claude Code is "everything is included out of the box", while Pi is "the base is minimalist and the upper layer is fully open". It makes extensions, skills, prompt templates, and themes all first-class citizens, and can also be packaged into Pi packages for sharing through npm or git. The official only gives strong default values, and you can combine the rest - OpenClaw is a real implementation case based on Pi.

The usage methods are also comprehensive: interactive TUI, print/JSON automation mode, RPC remote control, and TypeScript SDK secondary development are all supported. After installation, cd to the project directory and type pi to start working. Just connect /login with the subscription or API Key.

Requires Node.js 22.19 and above. The official one-command installation: curl -fsSL https://pi.dev/install.sh | sh (PowerShell installation script for Windows), or npm install -g --ignore-scripts @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent. The installer will fix all dependent versions, and then use pi update to upgrade with one click.

If you don’t want to worry about dependencies, you can directly use the official npm package of this site to install it offline. Version 1.0.2 can be used immediately after installation.

The download button provides the tgz installation package (about 7.5 MB) of the npm official package @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent v1.0.2. npm install -g package file name can be installed offline, or you can decompress and view the source code.
